Change the skill cap to roll over every week. If you don't hit the cap a certain week, it gets added to the cap next time it resets. If this happens it will basically save the game from being dead due to lack of new players within 6 months. You can thank me later. |

This is not a new idea (should have use the search function, and bumped an existing thread), and not even in the right section. Stop shitposting please. I came up with this all on my own and I'm the first ever to think it. A system like this has never existed anywhere else and this is basically a revolutionary idea. It's pretty sad how you have to get jealous and defensive about it. Just accept that I am basically a God. |

Rigor Mordis wrote:Wouldn't a rollover be unfair to those who did make the cap? Also, how would a rollover keep a merc interested if they are hitting the cap day 1 or 2? And really, if you are purchasing an active booster, one is wasting money in my opinion if one is not hitting the cap and then some every week. Then, how would a rollover be fair to those who paid for an active booster? Wouldn't an active rollover render the active booster useless until one was ready to 'catch up'? If there were to be a rollover, I would just say just let there be no cap. It's about keeping new players or players that can't constantly play competitive. Nothing will change for people who cap day 1 or day 2. |

This will not give an edge to new players in any way. I can't believe you're even arguing that. New players will get the exact same benefit as old players from this proposed change. I tried to type out a thoughtful reply to you; I really did. But your post was so incredibly stupid and ignorant I think it gave a small family in Pakistan all stage 4 ******* cancer.
How could this change possibly give more SP to anyone? It will give people the same amount unless they choose to play after the cap, which should be a benefit to those who continue to play and have been able to cap every week. It's honestly unbelievable how you think that this won't impact new players at all. A rolling cap allows new players to, after a time, actually be near the same level of the older players instead of constantly leagues behind.
Bigglesworth McQueen wrote:Do new players get a 7 day skill booster? Maybe that's just with a pack, I dunno.
Either way, an unsellable, untradeable, use only 7 day skill booster for new players (not new clones) would help them out slightly. May even be enough incentive to grind that SP.
Realistically though, no new player is ever going to catch up to a seasoned vet, unless they specialise and get to the end of that skill tree. How it works in EVE, right? It's how it should be.
And yeah, obviously with playing 1500 sp games, no new player can actually catch the sp of people who have played from the beginning. But that doesn't mean they should be guaranteed to be immensely behind them just because they decided to pick up the game later. It works in EVE because IIRC, there's only passive skilling, but this is an fps, where one of the major factors for player retention is to stay competitive. |

Imp Smash wrote:Just a thought. Should the rollover cap reset every other week? Or just keep rolling over until you cap? I would prefer rolling over until it's met. I could see rolling over with diminishing returns after x weeks of not being met being a possibility to sort of maintain the integrity of needing to constantly play. Honestly, anything is better than the way it is now. |

This is the final SP thing unless we take a stand and demand change. /me facepalms Read this, I underlined and bolded the important part for you to make sure you see it. "Dear players,
Thank you for voting on the following options on the Skill Point system. We carefully followed the discussion and the voting process, and in the upcoming days we will be deploying the following system to the server:
Weekly skill point cap of 190.400 SP (without boosters) from fighting in battles Players who have maxed out their cap will receive 1 SP per warpoint up to a limit of 1.000 SP(without boosters) per each battle
We chose to go with Option #2 (limiting skill points earned to a maximum of 1.000 SP per battle after the cap has been hit) as it was both the safer and the most popular option among the players. We will monitor the situation after the changes are live and look forward to receiving feedback from you. Once again, we would like to remind you that weekly skill point rollover system is being worked on and that this is just the temporary solution that we are implementing.
Thank you once again for your participation and feedback!
We will see you on the battlefield."https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=503133#post503133 Here is the thread 3 months ago. I'm glad that this issue has high priority. |
